Due to the military situation of Cyprus. .

Every Cypriot must do around 2 years army service when they turn 18 years of age.

These young men sacrifice alot and serve alot of time in the best years of their lives for the threat of war on Cyprus

Maybe but lets look at the bigger picture, one of the main reasons that i left the UK was the increasing crime rate and the complete lack of respect that most teenagers have for society as a whole.
Many of my family in the UK say that their National Service days taught them respect and how to be a man. Whether these points are valid in this country where the family is number 1 is another thing but these are just my thoughts on the question posed.

very good point ttoli . . the young men in Cyprus genrally hold good strong values and morales in regard to culture, society, family, etc
