Dear SP,

My interest in Cyprus is that i am a Greek Cypriot living abroad with a relative who is one of the 1619 soldiers still missing after the invasion. I have family that were made refugees in their own country and were forced to leave Cyprus by Turkish Troops. My relatives and fellow countrymen (and women) we raped, abused, tortured and killed during the invasion. We still live with the nightmares of this today. How much suffering SP?

Does this justify my 'interest in Cyprus'?

Turkish soldiers DO NOT need to be in norther Cyprus to protect them! Nor did they need to protect them in 1974 when they used this as a pitiful excuses to invade NO do we need them now - 32 long years later!!!

Really are you sure about what you saying, then can you explain to me why the gc have 30000+ national guard and thousands more Greek soilders from the mainland and recently started to buy more weapons and has over 100,000 reservists at home with AK47 machine guns with live rounds in their possesion???

Is that all? I am dissapointed that Cyprus does not have more military power to protect against another Turkish military.

Ofcourse Cyprus needs to have military power since Turkey illegally invaded and are illegally occupying 37.5% of the island for 32 years now??? We would be silly not to attempt to have some defence from a strong Turkish military force

Cyprus IS Hellenic! There has only been Turkish minorities in Cyprus, they make up only a small portion of the population.

The only TC's that rightfully should be in Cyprus are those that were there before the 1974 invasion, the others need to leave back to Turkey.

The systematic destruction and violation of our people, land, culture, artifacts, churches in Cyprus by Turkey has by no means killed the hellenism that is roaring in Cyprus

I have studied Cyprus history extensively and it has never been a Hellenic island in its entire history and i feel sorry for you that you have embaressed yourself with the above quote but if you want to live in a Hellenic state then may i suggest the same back to you and you move to Greece and live there which is a Hellenic state and leave Cyprus for the Cypriots who acknowledge that it has more than one faith.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....YEH RIGHT, How old are you.....12, but i'll give you a clue or two, The Turkish Cypriots and Maronites have different faiths to the Greek Cypriots

One is Islam and the other follows the Romes christian faith which is NOT orthodox like the GC beyong that i reiterate that Cyprus has and never will be a Hellenic state.

Tell that to the families of the dead and see what reaction you get.

As with all wars, people die! Cyprus had to fight against Turkey to protect themselves and to attempt to protect thier country..Of course Turkish people died. This is sad but is relatively very very low compared to Greek Cypriot deaths.
