Has anyone heard of people in the South paying their way out of army service?

For the GC... you can always become a catholic...They are exempt from army duty...

Really?

Also, in regards to Turkey accepting money from people who dont want to do the army (as xenos mentioned $8k US) - is this legit?

Thats a complete bull cr@p dude. Dont listen to those faggots from the ministry and other morons who try to convience you that you wont be able to find a certain job unless you serve in the military. Forget about that. No one cares if you served the stupid army or not. Most of the civilized countries have already advanced to a professional army, non oblegatory service, a voluntary type, therefore there is no chance in you being asked about military obligations. Complete bull.

I took anastolh 4 times man so its about time for them to issue the paper man. I am working in an international company in Czech Republic and no1 ever asked if I served or not.

Dont bother dude

Hi Ellion

I guess thats good to know for alot of expat Cypriots and Cypriots born and or raised overseas who may be coming to Cyprus to work and live. Are you Cypriot? Supposedly if you are Cypriot and are visiting Cyprus you cannot stay for more than sixth months without serving the army. If you are younger than 25 you serve I think 6 months. If you are older than 25 you will serve 3 months. This has impact for working etc.. Tourist working in Cyprus no they dont need to worry about this stuff

Yes it is, the TC who return to north cyprus who have lived abroad or born abroad can either do full service (usually 18 but do instead 9 months), pay £3500 and do none or pay £1500 and do one month.

The TC side only allow for 3 months stay then you cannot leave and must do your millitary service one way or another.
