Post Turkish Troops Out of Cyprus
Turkey has tens of thousands of soliders in the Northern side of Cyprus.

If there is a good reason for having an army that could take on Europe based in Cyprus i would like to hear it.

TURKISH TROOPS OUT OF CYPRUS NOW!

Post Up to 100,000 Turkish Troops in Northern Cyprus
Yes, it is believed that there are up to 100,000 (or even more!) Turkish troops in the Northern Part of Cyprus, making it one of the most militarized zones in the world . .TURKISH TROOPS OUT OF CYPRUS!

Post How many army bases
Do you know how many Turkish (and UK and US) army bases there are on the Northern part of Cyprus?

It would be interesting to know if the UK and US forces have used Cyprus to support their position in Iraq?

comments welcome.

Post Turkish, British, US Army Bases in Cyprus
Yes there must be alot of Turkish military bases in northern Cyprus, given the high number of illegally occupied troops, would be interesting to find out.

Interesting also that you mentioned the British and US bases - The thought of these only brings negative thoughts. One would think that they are used constantly, afterall they are in prime global position (the middle of the earth). Britain and the US have had active military involvement in the middle east (most recently) and the involvement in the 1974 invasion (that they still deny). Given the geographic position of Cyprus and the fact that the UK and the US have military bases there, they certainly have been and are being used.

If anyone knows how many Turkish and other foreign army bases there are then please post a reply

thanks

Turkey has about 40,000 troops on the island not 100,000. I believe the british have two bases that treated as British soil after Cyprus got it's indepence. The US also has a Naval base they frequent in the south.

Turkish troops will stay until a solution is found.

Where have you been all your life??

For someone who would rather be in Cyprus, you knowledge is pitiful.

Perhaps I'm being too harsh and I apologise since it is not my intention to offend.

Perhaps Mr Xenos's post will have proved a little more illuminating.

But Pitsilia, where do you live now? how old are you? and what is your interest in Cyprus?

Post my position
SP,

I advocate the removal of Turskish forces from Northern Cyprus - We want our country back. my race, gender, age and classification have nothing to do with it.

thanks for clarifying the finer details.

Pitsilia

I asked nothing about your race, nor your gender, nor your age nor your classification ( Whatever that may mean, but I must assume homo sapiens is the answer).

"We want our country back". Can I assume you are a Cypriot? May I ask, are you a Turkish Cypriot or a Greek Cypriot?

Clearly, where you live now and your age may help to define your interest in Cyprus.

I look forward to our continued debate.

Post Greek and Turkish Cypriot and Army Bases
Dear SP and Xenos

I share the same views as Pitsilia . . I have quoted you on some of your posts. There is evidence that suggests that there is more than 40,000 Turkish troops and up to 100,000.
Why are there so many Turkish soldiers when the population is very small??
Also, why have they been there for 31 plus years??
The Turkish Cypriots ar those Turkish people that were born in Cyprus before the 1974 illegal invasion - I agree that they have a right to stay in Cyprus as much as Greek Cypriots. Those that have been illegally imported by Turkey to colonise the north side is simply NOT good enough! Turkish Troops out of Cyprus - There is no need for them 31 years later

I share the same views as Pitsilia . . In regard to the use of British and US army bases I would also like to know more.. If is a good question that does not require silly comments about "lack of knowledge" and "where do you live"!!!!!
