Hello Maria

Thank you for your interesting link

Have you noticed that the whole site refers only to Greek Cypriot Cyprus Wink

This is a Greek Cypriot site promoting Greek Cyprus ONLY.

Cyprus was colonised at a very early age by Hellenes who were indeed Greek Speaking. These settlers have got as much to do with modern day Greece as the Romans have to do with the Italians.

Cyprus has never been a Greek island. Greek as in the national flag of Greece today.

This link also says "May" be considered a Greek island since 1050 bc. Here the use of the word May is very ambiguous. It can be interpreted as you like. for example one could substitute Perhaps, or maybe here.

Any way thanks again, but please see my point . Greek Cypriot Web Sites are likely to be biased.

Yes . Of Course. That is the whole trouble since we both claim to know the truth. The trick is to try and see through both sides bull shit and also to try and find "Neutral Sources". This is NOT easy. But once you accept that "Our" side might be exaggerating the "Truth" a bit then clearly the "Truth "becomes a little more unclear but you will have a better perspective of the situation.

Helo Maria

Quite frankly I couldn't give a damn either way.It is the here and now that I am more interested in. HOWEVER I also like to debate facts.

If the island was uninhabited when the Ancient Greeks arrived who did they trade with?

The island has been inhabited for 9000 years , at least 6000 years BEFORE 1050BC

Ancient Greeks were in Cyprus. BUT you are not an Acient Greek. You might like to think you are but this is far from the truth.. Or can you trace your family tree back 3000 years? If so then I will sincerely apologise.

Regards

Hello Maria

Even the Web Site that you quote as your source of history for Cyprus, does not support this allegation of yours.

Try and read your own propoganda a bit more slowly and carefully before quoting it to support your beliefs.

To say that Cyprus was uninhabited before Hellenic traders came is pure myth, according to your source.

SP there was aslo other people in Cyprus to when Greeks started settling in Cyprus there where pheonicians and assyrians to as well as Greeks but Greeks where one of the first settlers there along with the phoenicians and assyrians. Greek Culture in Cyprus is Ancient so Cyprus was always a greek island no matter how much you want to twist it to suit your pro Turk agenda infact not only was Cyprus Greek but also parts of Turkey where also Greek culture on them to.
