Get rid of the green line, it's very existance only reminds and reinforces that we are seperated and hence keeps the walls in our minds up and living, we need to start bringing these walls down bit by bit wether they are physical or mental.

The green line is bad and should not be allowed to continue even one more day, and while we are at it lets get rid of all Greek and Turkish flags too as they are another form of symbol that represents our division.
as much as i agree with what you are saying... i believe the Cyprus flag does not represent any division. The flag was conceived before the invasion. I think the symbol of division is epitomised by the Northen Cyprus flag.

When i said Greek flags i meant exactly that and not the ROC flag as such, go to Larnaka for example on Mckenzie beach every 50 meters there is a Greek flag and to me as most others looks more like a Greek island should rather than a cypriot island, that said the amount of Greek and Turkish flags in the North and South in the squares, official buildings, sporting venues, the beach etc. almost makes it look like Cyprus is a Turkish and Greek island AKA "mini me" of the mainlands.

While we are all free to love, respect, loath or hate the mainlands, Cyprus is a cypriot island and these two countries imo contribute to the division in our minds through their symbols like their flags, as Greece and Turkey whom have been traditional enemies for centuries and this is reflected through this, we should remove all mainland Greek and Turkish symbols and replace them with cypriot ones, we have a large and long enough history for us all to be proud of and have no need or requirement for the mainlands ones at all.

Hope that clears it up. Wink
its funny how you make reference to a 'mainland' In my mind the mainland is CYPRUS.

Tell me brother, how the current flag of the Republic of Cyprus symbolises your so-called mainlands (Greece and Turkey)? I dont see any Red, blue or white in our flag.

You are truely confused Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Go back and read my posts and try to understand them. Wink

As for the ROC flag i have not entered into the conversation of that just yet but if you want to bring it on in another thread, please do so.

There needs to be a viable and workable solution to the Cyprus problem before the green line can be taken down. There are serious concerns that have not been addressed for decades and also bicommunal issues to consider

Post who controls the green line
Who controls the 'no mans land' area of the green line?

United Nations, Turkey, TRNC, ROC ?

As I said in my other post, all troops out of cyprus. In addition to this, no green, red, purple, or whatever colour lines are needed.

the current Cyprus flag is neutral and representative of Cyprus - colours are great and so to are is the design and composition of the island and the peace bearing olive leaves - We should be more proud of our flag

We will only ever be proud of the cypriot flag when we get rid of all the non-cypriot ones like the greek and turkish ones. Wink

brother you must be confused. there is only ONE Cyprus Flag. The Republic of Cyprus. This is neither greek nor turkish... its Cypriot, it cant be non-cypriot... that makes no sense. unless you think that GC's are not cypriot?

brother, do you think TC are more Cypriot than GC?

pitsilia, i think brother is referring to the predominant use of the flags of Greece (in the south) and the flag of Turkey in the North.

It is even more wrong how in the north they not only use the flag of Turkey but also the flag they have created to represent the north of Cyprus
